What is a black tie suit?
The black tie dress code traditionally refers to a black suit which is paired with a black bow tie and patent leather shoes. Nowadays, there’s more flexibility in terms of colour, with navy, green, white and burgundy being popular choices, but the principle of wearing a suit with a bow tie and dress shoes remains the same.
Can I wear a black tie suit to my wedding?
Absolutely. Black tie suits are the most popular formalwear choice for men and, besides, by wearing a black tie suit you’ll avoid blending in with the guests who’re very likely to wear lounge suits.
Does a black tie suit have to be black?
Absolutely not. Although the black tie dress code used to denote that the suit, bow tie and shoes must be black, this is no longer the case. You can opt for a dark colour like navy, or go for white, green or even burgundy.
What accessories should I wear with my black tie suit?
As a minimum you’ll need a bow tie and tuxedo shoes. Because you’ll be wearing a bow tie, you’ll need a tuxedo shirt with a wing collar. Our black tie suits come with a matching bow tie to make your life easier and they’re all 3-piece, so they include the waistcoat. You can also add a cummerbund, instead of a waistcoat, to create a second look, a pocket watch or crystal cufflinks and studs.
