What is a Nehru suit?

The Nehru suit is inspired by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India, and modelled after the sherwani. It stands out for its mandarin collar, hip length and straight buttoned-up front, and it’s known to create a slimming effect. This style was particularly popular in the late 1960s and 1970s and it’s now coming back in different variations, especially for formal looks.

Can you wear a Nehru suit to a wedding?

Nehru is a very popular choice, both for grooms with an Asian background and other gentlemen. Apart from its slimming effect, Nehru suits come in a variety of colours, fabrics and textures and many designers are adding their touch to the jacket’s cut, creating memorable outfits that are ideal as wedding suits.
