1. What are cookies and why do we use them?

Cookies are small files that are downloaded on your device whenever you access a website. They do not harm your device, they do not compromise your account security and they do not store sensitive information, such as your home address, date of birth or credit card number.  What they do is facilitate the functionality of websites and personalise the user’s experience. We use cookies to:

  • Recognise the device you are using and ensure that our website responds to it, e.g. adjusting image size depending on whether you are browsing from a mobile phone or desktop
  • Allow you to create an account, securely sign in and access all the features that this offers, such as viewing past orders or statements
  • Store the content of your shopping bag while you are still browsing so you can return to it later and complete your transaction
  • Collect information on the areas of the website that you visited and how much time you spent on each, the products that you viewed and the ones you purchased. This information helps us improve our site design to better meet your needs
  • Distribute visitors evenly across platforms to secure the fastest possible speed
  • Re-market by reaching out to you with suggestions that may interest you when you’re browsing on other selected websites. This may be done in collaboration with a third party, such as an advertising network
  • Allow you to directly access social media, such as Facebook and Instagram. By using this feature, you consent to allowing cookies from these providers whose cookie policy is available on their website

You can find more information about cookies at the Information Commissioner’s webpage at https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/online/cookies/

2. What type of cookies do we use?

We use first party cookies, that are placed on the website and used exclusively by Aristocracy London, and third party cookies, that are placed on our website by third parties that we work with.

First party cookies include:

  • Strictly functional cookies: these are required for the functionality of the website and do not gather information. If you deactivate cookies, you will not be able to use certain services of our website, such as setting up an account
  • Analytical cookies: these collect information about how people use our website, which pages and products they prefer, how long they spend on each page etc. We use this information to improve the design of our website and your subsequent user experience
  • Personalisation cookies: these allow us to remember your choices while navigating the website, such as your username or language, and therefore provide personalised features. The information we collect is usually anonymized and cannot be used to sell advertising or remember where you’ve been on the internet
  • Targeted marketing cookies: these help us understand how customers respond to our marketing campaigns, e.g. by telling us if they visited our website following an ad. They also allow us to approach you with relevant products. Without these cookies, you will still see ads online but they are less likely to be of any interest to you.

Third party cookies are set up by e.g. suppliers who partner with us to deliver our website, companies that participate with us in affiliate marketing schemes and other third parties who deliver products that enhance the user experience and consequently assist generating sales. Such third party partners could be e.g. Facebook, Google or Ad Networks. In the case of third party cookies, it is the third parties that collect the information and must ensure compliance with their legal obligations so please visit their website if you want to know more. In most cases, these cookies track your shopping behaviour to ensure that any sponsored content you see is relevant to your interests. The information collected would not allow these third parties to “identify” you in the real world and it’s always worth remembering that, if you deactivate cookies, you will still see ads but they will not necessarily be relevant to you.

3. Can I deactivate cookies?

If you are not happy with how cookies work and what they offer, you can deactivate them by changing the settings on your browser. Please bear in mind that we cannot deactivate cookies for you and, once you switch off cookies, certain functionalities of the website will no longer be available, e.g your account.

4. Do you still have concerns?
